This extended group simulation invites participants to create an entire island community together. In addition to establishing rules for coexistence, participants collaboratively design the island’s geography, culture, traditions, cuisine, music, and dance. The variety of tasks encourages communication, negotiation, creativity, and shared decision-making while revealing important aspects of group dynamics. Through the process of building a fictional society, participants gain insight into leadership, cooperation, conflict management, and the ways communities create shared identities and values.
